Mary Jo (Archer) DeVault, 85, of Harrisville, OH, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, OH. She was born June 9, 1929 in Bellaire, OH a daughter of the late Ernest C. and Nancy LaNora (Shaw) Archer. Mary Jo was a member of Harrisville United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Harrisville Vol. Fire Dept. as an EMT and Ladies Auxiliary. She wrote poetry and stories and loved to sew. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. DeVault, a brother, Joseph A. Archer and a sister, Betty Reynolds. Surviving are her son, Bill (Maryjo) DeVault of Columbus, OH, her daughter, Sherry (Ron) Rislund of Beavercreek, OH, a sister, Pat Oliver of Buffalo, OH, grandchildren; Michael DeVault, Marie (Kevin) Jennings, Nickie (Bobby) Kidder, Brandon (Carrie) Ferrell, Tara (Mike) Robertson and Tanya Rislund, nine great grandchildren, and a great grandchild on the way. Family and friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Saturday, August 16, 2014, 11 am until time of services at 2:00 pm with Rev. Drew McPeak officiating.
