Mary Alice Carothers, 88, of New Athens, formerly of Harrisville, OH died January 20, 2019 at Harrison Community Hospital.  She was born August 18, 1930, in Adena, OH, a daughter of the late Harold and Edith (Childers) Carter.  She was a Methodist by faith.   In addition to her parents, Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Carothers; brother, Ronald Carter.   She is survived by her daughters, Christine (Gary) Harris of Harrisville, Barbara (Arnie) Morris of Dennison, Sandra Morris of New Athens, Raylene (Kenny) Bland of New Athens, Cathy (Alfred) Williams of Harrisville; brothers, Orval "Ace" (Clara) Carter of St. Clairsville,  Richard "Butch" (Grace) Carter of Cadiz, David (Donna) Carter of Scio; sisters, Dorothy Utter of Harrisville, Shirley Oszust of Uhrichsville, Virginia Fonner of Bethlehem, WV, Nancy (Kenny) Joseph of Bethlehem, WV, Judy (Eugene) Roberts of New Athens; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.    Friends will be received at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd. Bridgeport, OH, Wednesday, January 23 from 2pm until 8pm.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 24th at 11am at the funeral home with Reverend Pete Tuchek officiating.  Interment to follow at Olive Branch Cemetery, Harrisville.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
