Mary Ellen Harris, 88, of Martins Ferry, Ohio crossed over on April 9, 2024, at Shadyside Care Center, Shadyside, Ohio.  She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandma and great grandma, she was a kind, sweet, wonderful lady who enjoyed being with her family and gardening, she loved time with the children, but she suffered the last several years with dementia and as her memory faded, she did not remember all those that she loved.  She is preceded in death by her husband James M. Harris Sr., daughters, Julie Ann Harris and Janet Ellen Kuhn and her mother Bessie Harvey.

Surviving are her two sons, James (Kimberly) Harris and Wayne (Theresa) Harris, grandson Matthew (Jackie) Harris who lived with her all of his life until his marriage.  She has nine other grandchildren, Doug, Christy, and Keith (Jessica) Kuhn, Lesley (Christopher) Harman, Amber (Anthony) and Adam Harris, Joshua, Christopher and Ryan Harris and nine great-grandchildren, sister, Darlene (Orville) Calvert as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes there will not be a public visitation and a Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at a later date and at the convenience of the family.  Wilson Funeral Home – Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry is assisting the family.
