Mary G. DiStefano. It is with great sadness that we announce our beloved Aunt Mary, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at her home.

She was born March 28, 1930 in Martins Ferry, OH the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Helen (Bernardi) DiStefano.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby DiStefano and her sister, Rose Hicks.

Mary graduated from Martins Ferry High School and Ohio State University. She began her career as an accountant for North American Airlines in Columbus, OH. She returned to Martins Ferry and taught math for over 30 years for Martins Ferry City Schools. Mary was passionate about teaching, especially math and her students.

Mary was devoted to her mother, St. Mary's Catholic Church, her niece and nephew, and their children and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving niece, Becky (Joe) Gala, nephew, Brian (Mindy) Hicks, her great nieces, Jamie Gala, Lee (Wali) Gala-Crowder, Tiffinie Hicks, and great great nephews Gabriel and Ethan Crowder, and great great niece Lili Crowder.

Aunt Mary was the most selfless, kind, and compassionate person to all who knew her. She was the matriarch of our family. She will always be in our hearts.

Friends and family will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH on Monday, October 7, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Tom Marut officiating.
