Mary Elbert Mary Schorsten Elbert, 92, of Akron, OH, formerly of Colerain Pike, died Sat., Apr. 5, 2003 at Sumner Merriman Nursing Home, Akron, OH. She was born Mar. 9, 1911 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Simon, Sr. and Katherine Stieger Schorsten. She was a retired secretary of the Advertising Department of The Times Leader and a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, both of Martins Ferry, OH In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence R. Elbert in 1989 and a brother Simon "Sam" Schorsten, Jr. Surviving are two daughters Mary Kay Wilson and her husband Dr. James of Akron and Rebecca Seroke of Tallmadge, a sister Elsie Lutz of Martins Ferry and four grandchildren Dr. James R. Wilson, Jacqueline Brennan, Michelle Izenour and Stefanie S. Sattely and nine great grandchildren. Friends will be received Tues., Apr. 8, 2003 at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM when Rev. Peter Pilger will officiate.
