Obituary

Mary Ellen (Gum) Long, 81, of Moundsville, WV, formerly of Bridgeport, OH, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. She was born Sept. 30, 1925 in West Wheeling, OH a daughter of the late Tucker Gum and Edith L. (Weeks) Witkocy. She was retired from the former Bobbie Brooks Co. of Bellaire and also worked for the former Lamplighter Bar and Fatty's Bar both of Martins Ferry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Stanley J. Cook, her second husband Kenneth O. Long, a son Edward S. Cook, and a brother Howard Gum. Surviving are two daughters Patricia A. Parsons and her husband Frank of Moundsville, WV and Judy K. Hughes and her companion Rick Maguire of Tiltonsville, OH, two stepsons Pat Long and his wife Dorthea of High Springs, FL and Mike Long of Toronto, OH, two sisters Martha Akers of Seattle, WA and Janet (Ed) Holstein of St. Clairsville, OH, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH.
