As Before, Even Better Mary Jane Lackman, 89 of Martins Ferry went to be with her loving husband Al in Heaven on Monday October 10, 2011 at Wheeling Hospital. She was born September 8, 1922 in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of the late William and Margaret Shane. She lived in the Ohio Valley since 1951 where she was a very active member of the 1st Baptist Church Martins Ferry, a Sunday School Teacher, member of the Choir, Bible School Teacher, and involved in numerous Committees in the Church, a Volunteer for East Ohio Regional Hospital, and Red Cross Blood Mobile for 34 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Albert W. "Al" Lackman in 2002, a sister Nancy Monohan. Mary is survived by her children Albert (Judith) Lackman of Ocean City N.J., Tom (Sherry) Lackman, and Nancy (Brewster) Martin of St. Clairsville, Judy (Norman) Harding, and Janet (Rick)Vavrock, both of Bridgeport, a sister Thelma Turpak of FL. She was a loving and caring grandmother who adored her 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside Thursday October 13, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm where services will be held Friday at 11 am at the Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Lewis officiating and assisted by John Oliver, interment in Union Cemetery St. Clairsville.
