Mary Jo (Longar) Baker, 80, of Martins Ferry, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, August 16, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 16, 1946, in Wheeling, WV the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Agnes (Strauss) Longar.

Mary Jo was a devoted housewife and wife of Monty Baker, Sr. She had a deep and abiding love that was the foundation of their family. As a loving mother and grandmother, she poured her heart into raising her children, always ensuring their home was a place of warmth and nurture. Mary Jo’s spirit will be remembered fondly by all who knew her as she touched many lives through her kindness and dedication to her family. May she rest in eternal peace. Mary Jo was Catholic and it was through her faith she drew strength and solace throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Aria.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 56 years, Monty J. Baker, Sr., son, Monty J. (Michelle) Baker, Jr., daughter, Lisa Marie Fisher, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sisters, Barbara A. Aubrey, and Jul R. Smith.

Arrangements were entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home – Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935. All funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Private entombment will be at Holly Memorial Garden Mausoleum, Pleasant Grove.
