Mary M. (Ritchey) Hughes, 76, of Martins Ferry, died January 14, 2020 at her residence. She was born October 30, 1943 in Fairmont, WV, a daughter to the late William E. and Willa R. (Murphy) Ritchey.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Martins Ferry, a Methodist Lay Minister and a member of American Legion Post #3 of Moundsville, WV. Mary treated everyone she met with kindness & love. Her faith overpowered her pain and her joy of family & friends & God kept her going. She loved reading and playing cards with her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Justin D. Hughes.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Lester A. Hughes, her children: Corena (Jon) Mitchell of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Laura (Ken) Powaski of Twinsburg, OH, Erik Hughes of Seattle, WA and Leslie (George) Knuth of Jackson Twp., OH, her siblings: Billie L. (Jack) Regis, Sylvia J. (Larry) Deaton, and Diana L. Schell all of Martins Ferry, her grandchildren: Erin (Chris) Chmielewski, Logan Powaski, Brennen Powaski and Inara Hughes, her great grandchildren, Riley, Owen, and Austin and several nieces and nephews.
Private visitation and the funeral service was held at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH with Rev. Van Fisher officiating.
