Mary Louise Zaney, 93, of Granville, formerly of Martins Ferry, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in Wesley Woods Nursing Center, New Albany, OH.  She was born in Wheeling on November 10, 1927, a daughter of the late Miller V. Smith and Bessie (Beihl) Hempelman.  She was a devout member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Martins Ferry, the order of the Eastern Star and was a secretary at Heslop Funeral Home for many years.

Mary Louise is survived by a son, Michael (Becky) Zaney; a daughter, Melissa (Mark) Popovich; 3 grandchildren, Ryan Popovich, Emily Popovich, and Charles (Heather) Zaney; and 2 great grandchildren, Adeline, and Warner Zaney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles H. Zaney; and 2 sisters, Margaret Ellen Zenda and Charlotte A. Greer.

Graveside service will be held Monday at 11 am in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 40 N. 4th St., Martins Ferry, OH  43935.
