MARY ""GARNELL"" THOMPSON, 83, of Martins Ferry, died Thursday, January 24, 2008 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born October 11, 1924 in Wheeling, the daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Castillow Hores. Garnell was a retired X-ray assistant and a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Bridgeport. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Danny Joe Thompson and a brother Kenneth Hores. Garnell is survived by her husband Carl Vincent Thompson; a son Russell Thompson and his wife Sharon of Kissimmee, FL; a daughter Carla Wilson and her husband Dale of Colerain; a brother Russell Hores of Brookside; two sisters Betty Lou Shurtz of Carrollton, OH and Rose Brumbach of Amsterdam, OH; five grandchildren Tammy Birchler and her husband Scott of Kissimmee, FL, DJ Hammond and his wife Jennifer of Virginia, Russell Thompson, Jr of Jacksonville, FL, Tiffany Thompson of Canal Winchester, OH and Dale Wilson, Jr. of Colerain; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
