Mary "Tootie" Reese passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in Rogers, MN. She was born April 5, 1920 to Robert and Mary Reese in Martins Ferry, Ohio. After graduating from Martins Ferry high school in 1937, Tootie went to Business College, then later returned to work in the office at Martins Ferry Hospital. She loved her job and worked there several years before meeting Wayne Riethmiller at a street dance in Ferry. He had recently returned from England where he was stationed during World War II. They got married on St. Patrick's Day in 1949. In 1951, Wayne decided to give up his well drilling business and the family headed to Minnesota to work for Layne Drilling Company. In 1955 Tootie and Wayne ventured into a new drilling business, Tri-State Drilling, which is still doing business today out of Plymouth, MN. Tootie has been a faithful member of the Buffalo Presbyterian Church in MN where she taught Sunday School and served as a deacon for several terms. She logged many volunteer hours in the church and community. Tootie loved to cook and enjoyed sharing her meals with family and friends and those in need. Throughout her years Tootie was a wonderful mother, full of grace, a loyal friend, and a blessing to everyone who had the good fortune of knowing her. Her bright smile and sense of humor endeared her to those around her. It was with great sorrow that we, her family, said goodbye to her. We know that she is in the comforting arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And if there are ovens in heaven, we know she is serving up a feast! Tootie is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gertrude and Esther; an infant brother, Robert; daughter-in law, Lucy Riethmiller; and former husband, Wayne Riethmiller. Tootie is survived by her son Mark Riethmiller and his daughter Reese; her daughter and son-in-law, Marylou and Joel Swedberg, their sons Luke and Derek Swedberg (Leslie) and their three children Blake, Brynn and Halle; and her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Dave Bullock, and their three children, Lauren Tilus (Jake), Jenna Okerstrom, and Cody Bullock (Dana) all of Minnesota and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 10-11 a.m. where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
