Matthew Charles Bennett III, 64 of Martins Ferry, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 in his residence surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on February 27, 1956 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Mathew and Marie (Smith) Bennett Jr.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and of the Carpenter's Local #3, Wheeling and Carpenter's Local #186 Steubenville, he was also an avid fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams.

Matt is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cheryl (Post) Bennett; 3 sons, Matthew C. Bennett IV, Todd Bennett and Juston (Jeanette) Bennett; 2 sisters, Katherine Andrews and Janet (Craig) Poulain; a brother, Don (Elizabeth) Bennett; several nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mark Bennett and an infant sister, Cindy Bennett.

Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry.  Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 am in the funeral home, with Reverend Tina Siroki officiating.  Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
