Matthew S. Berletch Jr. 89, of Bridgeport, died Friday October 14, 2016 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born September 3, 1927 in Benwood WV, a son of the late Matthew S. Sr. and Margaret C. (Valembois) Berletch. He was a retired owner and truck driver, a member of Kirkwood United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 227 Bridgeport, and a veteran of WW II in the US Navy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Matthew S. Berletch III, a brother Jack Berletch, and a sister Phyllis Hill. Matt is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Nannette (Snodgrass) Berletch, daughter Amy (Dr. Todd) Chontos of Pickerington grandchildren Katelyn (Matt) Smith, and Kyle M. Chontos, also children Larry Berletch, Debbie (James) Hill, and Robin (Ernest) Pollock all of Martins Ferry, and Sandra (Harry) Caprita of Piedmont, brothers Charles Berletch of St. Clairsville, Larry (Marilyn) Berletch of Benwood, Ronald (Mary) Berletch of St. Clairsville, sisters Patrica (Herman) Muldrew of Glen Dale Shirley (Robert) Ankrom of Moundsville, and Judy (John) Davidson of Sherrard, WV. Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside on Tuesday October 18, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am with Rev. James Hoff officiating. Interment will be held at Belmont Memorial Gardens St. Clairsville at a later date. Full military services will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association of Wednesday at 10:45 am at the Funeral Home.
