Obituary

Casteel, Max M., 87, of Adena, Ohio, passed Monday June 3, 2013 at his home. He was born December 18, 1925, a son of the late Earl and Elsie Vermillion Casteel. Max worked as a contractor and coal miner, and a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WWII, where he was stationed at Milne Bay in New Guinea serving roles as gunner and Pilot of a PT Boat. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Emma "Betty" Casteel on January 9, 2013; and an infant brother Robert Casteel. Max is survived by a son Keith Casteel of Adena, daughters: Carol (Jerry) Laposki of Pleasant Grove, Ohio, Karen (Joe) Zavatsky of St. Clairsville, Ohio, and Carla (Greg) Hall of Hilliard, Ohio; a brother James Casteel of Reynoldburg, Ohio; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio, where services will be held Friday June 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev.
