Mervin L. "Speedy" Reid, 88, of Bellaire, OH, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born May 29, 1921 in Martins Ferry a son of the late William S. and Gertrude (Gummery) Reid. He was retired from the Ironworker Local #549, Wheeling, WV and a veteran of the U.S. Army, WWII. Surviving are his wife Dorothy "Dottie" (Douglas) Jarvis Reid. Private graveside services where held at the convenience of the family at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH with Rev. Billy Carpenter of Glen Dale United Methodist Church, Glen Dale, WV officiating. Arrangements by Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH.
