Michael Paul ""Mike"" Ballint, 84, of Barton, OH was called to the lord on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 surrounded by his family and friends. His passing came after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 18, 1924 to the late Peter Ballint and Juliana Bachie. Mike never met a stranger and those that met him were a friend for life. Mike and his wife Barb enjoyed their retirement years between their home in Barton and Atwood Lake where Mike was known as ""Mr. Bass Man"". Mike was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed passing on his skills to his kids and grandkids. Mike was a past president of Roofers & Allied Waterproofers Local 118 for 12 years, a veteran of the US Army 11th Airborne Division, a member of the 11th Airborne Division Association, F.O.E. Aerie No. 995, a Lifetime Member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill and Albert Ballint and John Stoffer; and a sister Lillian Dziama. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Ballint; his children Scott Ballint and his wife Barb of Martins Ferry, OH, Debbie Thomas and her husband Veral of Canal Winchester, OH, Anna Romine and her husband Scott of Round Hill, VA, Michael Ballint and his wife Debbie of Mozart, WV, and Christine McCardle and her husband Carl of Wheeling, WV.;a brother Joseph Stoffer of Barton; a sister Ethel Pack of Wheeling; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday November 7, 2008 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8:30 with a vigil service at 7:30, and Saturday from 12:00 till 1:00 at Wilson Funeral Home 920, National Road, Brookside, OH. with family and friends leaving in procession to the Church at 1:00.Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church on Saturday November 8, 2008 at 1:30 with Father Dale Tornes Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH with full military services, at the gravesite, being conducted by Dillonvale American Legion McCook post 529 and Alexander Thomas performing Taps. Memorial contributions may be made to Father Flanagan's Boys Town of Omaha, NE. and Valley Hospice of Wheeling, WV.
