Michael J. Denard, 67, of Piedmont, OH, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, died Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at his residence. He was born April 4, 1950 in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Joseph S. and Martha J. (Hartness) Denard.

Mike retired from Shoemaker Coal Mine. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Martins Ferry and a former Scoutmaster for Troop #62.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy A. (Kindberg) Denard, his daughter, Rainie (David) Beale of Martins Ferry, sisters; Patricia Huffman of New Athens, OH and Barbara (Donald) Ramsell of Homer City, PA, grandchildren; Ethan Beale and Michaela Beale, brothers and sisters-in-law Bill and Judy Kindberg of Piedmont and Bill and Mary Beth Sells of Shadyside, OH and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, Friday 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. where services will be held, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Joe Sanders officiating. Burial follows at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
