Michael Chris LaMotte, 72, of Bridgeport, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023, in Franklin Medical Center.  He was born on May 8, 1951, in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Andrew and Patricia (Hammer) LaMotte.  Mike was a special educator with the Bridgeport School System, coached wrestling and softball, and was an umpire.  Mike also worked as a steelworker for many years. He also loved poetry, music and gardening.

He is survived by his son, Beau (Kayla) LaMotte; daughter, Catherine "Cody" (Matthew Locy) LaMotte; two brothers, Mark (Beverly) LaMotte and David (Vickie) LaMotte; three grandchildren, Aurora, Levon and Cody; sister-in-law Joyce Lamotte, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly (Oidtman) LaMotte; brother, Andrew R. LaMotte III; and his mother-in-law, Catherine Zukowski.

A memorial visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside.
