Mike Roy Hajdin, 80, of Colerain, OH died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at Peterson Rehab & Geriatric Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born July 8, 1928 in New Cumberland, WV a son of the late Mike Hajdin and Stella (Biela) Hajdin Roy Paul. He retired from the Martins Ferry plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel with 43 years of service. Mike was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and the Senior Citizens Center all of Colerain. He was past Commander of American Legion Post #38 and an organizer of the Bulltown Assoc. both of Martins Ferry, OH. Mike was a WWII and Korean veteran of the U.S. Navy. Surviving are his wife of 57 years Madelyn (Walter) Hajdin, four sons Michael (Regina) Hajdin of Sunbury, OH, Edward Hajdin of Pittsburgh, PA, Paul (Barbara) Hajdin of Groveport, OH and John (Martha) Hajdin of Raleigh, NC, two daughters Mary Everson of Columbus, OH and Sharon Kurywchak of Chicago, IL, a brother Lawrence (Joyce) Roy of Colerain, four sisters Dorothy Roy of Wheeling, Joan (Robert) Lurty of St. Clairsville, OH, and Nancy (Ronald) Spielvogel and Cynthia Paul both of Martins Ferry, sister-in-law Sarah Stemkowksi of Shadyside, OH, brother-in-law Fred (Gloria) Minkemeyer of Rayland, OH, and three grandchildren Robbie Everson and Christine and Michael Hajdin. Friends will be received Friday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at 10:00 am at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Colerain with Rev. Dale Tornes officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH with full military honors by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion.
