Mildred Jean (Gretz) Matthews, 85, of Wheeling, West Virginia, formerly of Blaine, Ohio entered the gates of Heaven on March 8, 2017 at Peterson Hospital. Millie (as her family and friends called her) was born January 17, 1932 in Washington, PA to the late Isadore James Gretz and Beatrice (Yusavage) Gretz. Millie was a graduate of Bridgeport High School, Bridgeport, OH and worked for many years at Walgreens Drug Store in Wheeling. She was an avid cook and enjoyed cooking large meals for her family and friends. She loved traveling and traveled to many states sightseeing and just being with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Matthews; her grandparents, Paul and Josephine Yusavage and Louis and Sofie Gretz; her brothers, James A. Gretz, and Jerry Gretz; her sister-in-laws, Dorothy Gritz and Shelia Gretz; her brother-in-laws, John Matthews, Harley Matthews, Clarence "Pinkie" Matthews; and sister-in-laws, Jessie Matthews, Elizabeth (Snookie Matthews) Healy and Louise Hupp. She is survived by her brothers Edward Gritz and his wife Ceil of Wheeling, WV and George Gretz of Rockville, Maryland; her sisters, Rosemary (Gretz) Rockwell of Sun City, Arizona and Connie (Gretz) Smith of Milford, Delaware.
