Nanna L. Schilling, 80 of Martins Ferry passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with dementia Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the Shadyside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her family.  She was born December 10, 1942, the daughter of the late Warren W. and Lillie (Duff) Messerly.

She was a Christian by faith, a graduate of Martins Ferry High School class of 1961, a graduate of Ohio Valley School of Nursing class of 1964 with her RN in nursing. She was a long time Girl Scout leader, a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Yorkville, Park Legion Bowling League, Alumni Marching Band, and the Community Choir.   She was a lady of many talents and interest. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings; Joann Helling and Charles W. Messerly.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 56 years, John Schilling, children; Johnny Schilling of VA ,Nadine (Stephen) Moore of VA,  Nannette (Kenneth) Troyan of Martins Ferry, and Sarah Rust of Il, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren ;  and her  brother Jim Messerly.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January `17, 2023 from 5-7 at the Wilson Funeral Home – Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry and Funeral Service on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 10 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Zelewicz officiating.  Burial will follow at the Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
