Obituary

Nelda Lou Lasure, 89 of Bellaire passed away peacefully, Monday, July 10, 2023, at her residence with her family by her side.  She was born July 30, 1933, in Bellaire, the daughter of the late Raymond and Eva A. (Hobbs) Butler.

Nelda retired from the Sears & Roebuck Company, and was a bookkeeper for the Butler Painting Company, she joined the proof-reading staff of the Times Leader right after graduation from high school.  She was a lifelong member of the Riverview Bible Church, serving as the assistant pianist.  Her life impacted her family and community members, she knew the importance of writing letters to both young and old, how encouraging that was to receive a letter in the mail, she saw the hidden good in people.  It was her loving and kind personality that made her endearing to everyone she encountered. Nelda was known for her smile and how it brightened the gloomiest of days.   Both children and adults were better for having Nelda in their lives.  Her spirit of charity was constant throughout her life both inside and outside her family.  She and her husband opened their doors to children who needed love and care as foster parents.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband; John S. Lasure, Jr., son John Michael Lasure, brother B. Ellsworth Butler, sister-in-law; Dorothy Butler and brother-in-law, Harold Eugene Lasure.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Ray A. (Linda) Lasure, Eric A. (Sandra)Lasure, Leland J. (Karen) Lasure, daughter in law; Cheryl (Gary) Peterson, brothers; John A. (Mary) Butler and Ronald H. Butler, sisters-in-law; Connie Butler and Darlene Lasure (late Rich) Bickmeier, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews complete her family.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Bridgeport, OH, 43914.  Funeral Service will be Friday, July 14, 2023, 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Rowland officiating.  Burial to follow at the Belmont Memorial Cemetery in St. Clairsville, OH.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Riverview Bible Church, 57890 Moores Run Rd., Bellaire, OH 43906.

The Lasure Family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff of Amedisys Hospice and the SSOBC Meals on Wheels for the kind and loving service they both gave to Nelda.
