Norman L. "Stormin Norman" Hanke, 85, of Rayland, OH died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, OH. He was born Jan. 19, 1922 in Benwood, WV a son of the late Clarence A. and Mattie Mae (Donley) Hanke. He was a retired security guard for C.V.S. Pharmacy of Martins Ferry and Benwood, WV. He was also a member of the Meadowbrook Church of God, Rayland, OH, V.F.W. Post #4811, Yorkville, OH, and a veteran of the U. S. Army, WW II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-son Robert E. Overfield, I. Surviving are his wife Helen V. (Turner) Overfield Hanke, a step-daughter Gloria (Russell) Surber of Stockton, CA, two sons Norman L. Hanke, Jr. of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Ronald L. Hanke of Sherrard, WV, a daughter Beverly Stromatos of Sherrard, WV, his best friend Phil W. (Dixie) Monroe of Rayland, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday, 12-5 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Marvin Schooler officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Full military services will be held at the funeral home by the V.F.W. Post # 4811, Yorkville, OH.
