Ola (Ferrell) Delbrugge, 91, daughter of the late Mert Ferrell and Loretta (Molitor) Thorngate, died at the Home of the Good Shepherd, Wheeling, WV on Jan. 10, 2009, following a four year residency at the Welty Home of Wheeling. Ola was a life-long resident of Martins Ferry, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry, and worked for Banov Jewelers of Wheeling for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles A. Delbrugge in 1986, two granddaughters Rhonda Sue Delbrugge and Christine Carolyn Dawson, her step-father Ross Thorngate, Sr., and two brothers Ross Thorngate, Jr. and Charles J. Thorngate. Surviving are her son Charles R. (Marilyn) Delbrugge of Wheeling and three daughters Carolyn D. Dawson of San Diego, CA, Josy (Dick) Leightner of Fredricksburg, VA, and Sandy (Mike) DiNapoli of Parma, OH. She will be missed by them and her surviving eleven grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews with whom she was very close. Friends will be received Monday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating. Burial follows in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Rosary devotions will be held Monday at 3:00 pm followed by Wake services at 7:30 pm in the funeral home.
