Opal (Hamlin) Semple, 99 of St. Clairsville, OH formerly of Glen Dale, WV died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at Belmont Manor, St. Clairsville, OH. She was born April 4, 1913 in New London, CT a daughter of the late Sherman D. and Alice L. (Crocker) Hamlin. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Martins Ferry, Order of the Eastern Star, West Liberty, WV, a charter member of the Green Acre Homemaker Club, and the Hobbytoppers, Glen Dale, WV. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles L. Semple, Sr., three brothers Herbert, Charles and Ralph Hamlin, four sisters Gladys McCollough, Barbara Kneisel, Martha Harward and Vida, a son-in-law Duane Wise, and three grandchildren; Debbie, Scott and Andrew Semple. Surviving are a son Charles L. (Dixie) Semple, Jr of Moundsville, OH, two daughters Sandra (George) Weaver of Sherrard, WV and Opal Jane Wise of Price, UT, two brothers Robert Hamlin of Cincinnati, OH and Frank Hamlin of FL., three sisters Betty Hamlin, Marian Brown, and Phyllis Obryan all of Cincinnati, OH, eleven grandchildren; Andrea Swanson, Dane and Matt Wise, Chuck, Joe, Amanda, and Angela Semple, Tracie, Fred and David Weaver, and Carol Burge, eleven great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 at 11:00 am with Minister Rod Kasler officiating. Burial follows in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 710 S.
