Obituary

Kourim, Otto Jr., "Loppy", 84, of Rayland died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday July 14, 2012 at Wheeling Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 21, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of the late Otto Kourim Sr. and Helen (Cooper) O'Brien. He was retired from the former Ferro-Alloy Company Brilliant, a Veteran of the US Army in Korea, the CSA Lodge, and the Yorkville VFW. Loppy enjoyed baseball, NASCAR, bowling, wrestling, and puzzles. He was a lifelong NY Yankees fan, having earned a spot on their farm team, an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Ohio State Buckeyes, Dale Earnhardt, and the Washington Wild Things. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Edward Kourim, a sister Jean Simeone, and a grandson Hunter Harrison. Otto is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy (Buck) Kourim, sons: Gary (Joyce) Kourim of Rayland, and Jeffrey (Cindy) Kourim of Yorkville; a daughter Jill (William) McKim of Rayland; six grandchildren: Jason, (Seana) Kourim, Kelly (Jason) Harrison, Melanie Kourim, Sgt. Jeffrey (Desirae) Kourim II, Morgan and Megan McKim, and five great grandchildren: Ryan, Jacob, Noah Kourim, Tyler and Hayden Harrison and his beloved pet Miss Kitty. Friends are invited to a celebration of Otto's life on Tuesday July 17, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 102 Main Street, Tiltonsville, Ohio, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Thomas N. Thomas, officiating. Interment in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, at a later date. Full military honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of the VFW on Wednesday at 10:45 at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff at the Schiffler Cancer Center and the 6th floor Oncology Unit at Wheeling Hospital for their loving and dedicated care.
