Surrounded by her children, Patricia Smith Link, 90, passed away on September 24, 2023, rejoining the love of her life, her late husband Chuck. She was born on November 21,1932 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to Leo and Mary (Campbell) Smith. Patricia was the beloved mother of 7 children, grandmother of 24 and great-grandmother of 8. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Ann, Bill, Jimmy, Leo Jr., and Kathy. She is survived by her brother Donald (Debbie) Smith and her seven children: Dr. Cynthia Link (Joe) Weinstein, Dr. Charles Jr. (Julia), Todd, Deborah Link (Darren Smith), Michelle Link (Tom) Smith, Patricia Link (Jim) Owen and Jennifer Link (Shawn) Byers. She is also survived by grandchildren Debbie Weinstein (Andrew) Schectman-Rook, Mike (Becca Dobler) Weinstein and Lori Weinstein (Mike Peterman); Rebekah, Charles J. III, Konstantine, and Christian Link; Benjamin Link (Jenna Anderson), Megan Link (Elliot) Rodriguez, Margaret Link (Shane Shoaf) and Bryce Link; Matthew, Anthony, Malakai, Catrina, Isaac and Adelena Smith; Paige and Morgan Owen; and Patrick, Daniel, Brian, Anna and Adam Byers; and great-grandchildren Harper and Huxley Link; Dani and Ellie Schectman-Rook; Oliver and Wyatt Link, Amelia and Sophia Rodriguez.
Patricia started her work life as a bookkeeper at Wheeling Savings and Loan before leaving to become a full-time mom. She was devoted to her family, volunteering at her children's schools. Patricia was committed to supporting Catholic education and her church. She was the head of the choir at St. Anthony's even after she turned 90. She was also a Eucharistic minister. She worked for the Red Cross when her younger children were in high school and also volunteered for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and National Right to Life.
Calling hours will be held at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Bridgeport, on Wednesday, September 27 at 2-4 p.m. (with a vigil service at 3 p.m.) and 6-8 p.m., and on Thursday, September 28 at 9-11 a.m., followed by a funeral mass with Liturgy at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Bridgeport, with Fr. John Mucha officiating. Interment at Linwood Cemetery, Blaine, following the service.
