Obituary

Paul "Gene" McConville, 90 of Martins Ferry passed away Friday, December 2, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born July 3, 1932, the son of the late George and Francis (Kuckuck) McConville and loving stepfather Walter Dunlap.

Gene was retired from the Wheeling Pittsburg Steel Corp, Yorkville plant as a Tin-Line operator and a member of the First Baptist Church of Martins Ferry.  He enjoyed bowling and with the support of his late son-in-law Ray, remained an active bowler well past his eighty-fifth birthday.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.  His spirit of charity and dedication was a constant throughout his life; if someone needed help, he would be there in a moment's notice to support them without a second thought.  Gene is now resting in the arms of our Lord and savior, reunited with the love of his life, his beloved Anna Mae.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Anna Mae (Delbrugge) McConville, son; Ronald, son-in-law's; Ray Messenger and Joe Karakas, siblings; Don, Tom, Bob, Bill, and Ruth McConville.

Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters; Paula Messenger, Marcia (John) Cika, both of Martins Ferry, Maria Karakas of Tiltonsville, daughter -in-law; Janice McConville of Martins Ferry, eight grandchildren, Keith (Elaine) McConville, Raymond (Judy) Messenger, Gwynne (Brandon) Groves, Ronnie McConville, Amber (Bryan) Mancini, Michael and Marisa Cika, and Mandy (Chris) Blackwell, six great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren with one more due in December.  In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews who he considered his children as well.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from 10am until time of service at 12 noon at the Wilson Funeral Home – Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry.  Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry with Rev. Larry Lewis officiating.
