Paul P. Mathews, 78, of West Rd., Martins Ferry, OH, died Friday, April 3, 2009 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born June 5, 1930 in Martins Ferry, OH a son of the late Snow C. and Edith (Phillips) Mathews. He retired from the Operating Engineers Local #18 and Ohio Coal Company. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson and a sister Geraldine DoJack. Surviving are his wife Christina E. (Winesburg) Mathews, two sons Brian (Dana) Mathews of Barnesville, OH and Vance Mathews of Florence, KY, five daughters Charlotte (Frank) Carrothers of Colerain, OH, Dian Mathews of Tiltonsville, OH, Debbie Mathews of Mesa, AZ, Paula (Joe) Collette of Martins Ferry, and Janet Mathews of Yorkville, two brothers Dale Mathews of Pahrump, NV and David (Tammy) Mathews of Bellaire, five sisters Shirley Tomich and Sue (Peter) Krahel both of St. Clairsville, OH, Nelda Leach of Martins Ferry, Mary Lou Fulton of Shadyside, OH, and Carol Ann Jackson of Radcliff, KY, his nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren who always called him "Pap", and his white and black tail cats.
