Perina (Puperi) Johnson, 86, of St. Clairsville, OH, formerly of Kuckuck Ln., Martins Ferry, OH died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 at Forrest Hill Nursing Home, St. Clairsville. She was born Feb. 27, 1922 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (Cassell) Puperi. She was retired from the Belmont County Sewer Authority and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Russell L. Johnson, a brother Ambrose Puperi, and a sister Virginia Puperi. Surviving are her daughter Patricia (Charles) Ontko of Marietta, OH, two brothers James Puperi of Martins Ferry and Albert Puperi of Redding, CA, two sisters Philomena Zake of Monroeville, PA and Mary (Conrad) Fowler of N. Canton, OH, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Friends will be received Friday 4-7 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating. Burial follows at Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, OH. Wake services will be held Friday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
