Peter A. "Pete" Carpino, 88, of Vine St., Martins Ferry, OH died Friday, Mar. 17, 2006 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born Mar. 9, 1918 in Tiltonsville, OH a son of the late Louis and Rose (Mancuso)Carpino. He was retired from the Martins Ferry Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. Pete was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, Martins Ferry, D.A.V. Post #117, Bellaire, OH, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army 47th Armored Infantry Battalion of the 5th Armored Division during WW II . Pete was the recipient of three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Boyd K. Carpino, a brother Joseph Carpino, a sister Mary Jane Carpino and a granddaughter Leeanne Carpino. Surviving are his wife Marian G. (Boyd) Carpino, a son Mark L. (Heidi) Carpino of Martins Ferry, five grandchildren Stephen M. Carpino, Boyd A. Carpino, Jr., Kerryanne Pittman, Kaitlyn, and Kailey Carpino, and twelve great grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday, 12-2 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Monday, Mar. 20, 2006 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Van D. Fisher officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH.
