Phillip Delbert, 87, of N. 7th St., Martins Ferry, OH died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 at Heartland-Lansing Nursing Home, Bridgeport, OH. He was born Jul. 18, 1921 in Shadyside, OH a son of the late Vincenzo James and Carmela Delbert. He was retired from the former Marx Toy Factory, Glendale, WV, a former bartender for the American Legion, Martins Ferry and a night janitor for the Martins Ferry Public Library. Phillip was a member of the American Legion Post # 38, Martins Ferry. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, WW II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers Tony, Alex, Louis and Joe Delbert, and a sister Maryann Sturnolia. Surviving are his wife Alberta (Warsinskey) Delbert, a daughter Margie (Ralph) Singhaus of Newark, OH, a son John Delbert of Clawson, MI, a step-son Louis (Gail) Woodruff of Palm Bay, FL, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Friends will be received Monday, December 8, 2008 from noon till time of services at 2:00 pm with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH.
