Phyllis E. (Lupton) Kane, 85, of Martins Ferry, OH died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 at East Ohio Regional Hospital Long Term Care of Martins Ferry. She was born April 21, 1925 the daughter of Roger Oaks and Fannie (Carnahan) Lupton. Phyllis was a direct decedent of the Zane and Martin families and a cousin of the William Dean Howells family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William L. Kane and two brothers William C. and Robert Lupton. She was a graduate of Bowling Green State University and a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. Phyllis worked several years in the office at Nickles Bakery of Martins Ferry. Phyllis was past president of the Greater Federation of Womens Club, Martins Ferry Womens Club, charter member and past president and board member of the Martins Ferry Area Historical Society, past president of St. Margarets Guild and United Churchwomen all of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, a member of Bridgeport Chapter of Eastern Star and the First Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry. Surviving are her daughter Susan E. Kane of Martins Ferry, a nephew Roger (Laurie) Lupton of W. Bloomfield, MI, and a niece Kathryn (David) Wiese of Bloomfield Hills, MI. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. David Stammerjohn officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
