Ray " Ben" Nieman, 91, of N. 9th St., Martins Ferry, OH died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007 at East Ohio Regional Hospital of Martins Ferry. He was born May 19, 1915 in Martins Ferry a son of the late John and Mary (Snyder) Nieman, Sr. Ben was retired from the Martins Ferry Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Catherine C. (Fox) Nieman, three brothers Harry "Peto" Nieman, William Nieman, and John "Chap" Nieman, Jr. and three sisters Freda, Margaret, and Kathryn Nieman. Surviving are a special niece and nephew Joyce and Ron Smith of Martins Ferry, several nieces and nephews, several special great nieces and nephews and a sister Laura Tennyson of Bridgeport. Friends will be received Sunday 5-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Philip Van Dam officiating. Entombment follows in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Belmont Co.
