Ray James Whiteley, 86, of Bethesda passed away on October 7, 2026. He was born on April 9, 1940, a son of the late Thomas James and Viola Mae (Benedict) Whiteley.

Ray was a coal miner. He served our country in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion in Bethesda. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, bird-watching, and cook-outs. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Piatt.

Left with cherished memories are his beloved wife of 63 years, Sharon Faye (McEndree) Whiteley; children, Billi (Roger) Kemp, Thomas (Mindi) Whiteley, Tim (Missy) Whiteley; grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley) Whiteley, Jason Carpenter, Alyssa (Ryan) Carpenter; step-grandchild, Teasha (Carl) Pozza; great-grandchildren, Pazeley, Slade, Stetson, Penelope, Phoenix; step-great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Christene, Brian, Coltyn, Colby, Crosby; five step-great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Richard (Mae) Whiteley, and Donna Jean Perkins.

Graveside services will be on Monday, October 12, 2026 at 12pm at Ebenezer Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home, Bethesda Chapel, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio 43719 is honored to serve the family.
