Raymond A. Marsh, 89, of Martins Ferry, OH died Wed., Feb. 21, 2007 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. Raymond was born on Apr. 6, 1917 he being the first war baby born in Martins Ferry. He was the son of the late James Marsh and Elsie E. (Burns) Marsh Kearns. Raymond attended Martins Ferry High School. He was a veteran of WW II having served as a Medic in the Army. He retired from Penn Central-Conrail Railroad with 42 years of employment. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife and best friend of 40 years Genevia L. (Coss) Marsh, an infant son Raymond Arthur Marsh, Jr., two sisters Elizabeth and Genevieve Marsh, a grandson James F. Coffield and son-in-law Joseph F. Coffield. Surviving are four daughters, Joyce (David) Vaughn of Norfolk, VA, Patricia L. Coffield of St. Clairsville, OH, Sarah Marsh with whom he resided and Kathleen (John) Yocum of Brilliant, OH, a brother Fred A. (Sally) Marsh of Martins Ferry, seven grandchildren Vicki (Tom) Lydon of California, MD, Susan (Glenn) Minucci of Lexington Park, MD, David (Jennifer) Vaughn of Mebane, NC, Joseph R. Coffield of St. Clairsville, Janet (John) DeBonis of Midland, VA, Stephanie (Mike) Riordan of Peoria, AZ and Kathie Ann (Gary) Greene of Denver, CO. Also completing the family are ten great grandchildren and three nieces. Raymond will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him especially by his two furry K-9, girls Coco and Ginger. Friends will be received Fri., 6-8 PM and Sat., Feb. 24, 2007 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:30 PM with Rev. Robert J. Romick officiating at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH. Raymond was a dedicated person to his family and friends; always wanting to help someone. He was an avid Martins Ferry High School Football Fan going to practices and games. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions made to the Student Athletic Growth Fund, c/o Dave Bruney, 633 Hanover St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935.
