Rev. Byron McElroy 83, of Adena went to be with our Lord on Tuesday July 28, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 7, 1942, in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Paul and Elinor (White) McElroy.

He was in the Radiology and Nuclear Science Department at Ohio Valley General and Harrison County Community Hospitals. He retired from the ministry at Warnick, Centerville, and Bethel Presbyterian Churches, also Deer Creek Presbyterian in Gibsonia, PA. His final appointment was at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church where he served for12 years. Byron was passionate about farming and his Oliver Tractor 550. His family was the center of his life, and he always had a smile for everyone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Jane Whitecotten.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife Mary (McAllister) McElroy, his daughters Paige Marie McElory, Ruth Ellen (Douglas) Moyers, and Nora Kay Worley, 6 grandchildren Troy Moyers, Brent (Kassie) Moyers, Hannah (Austin Burleson) Worley, Grace, Sarah, and Rebekah Worley, and his adopted granddaughter Carrie Dill, 2 great grandchildren Aiden, and Avis.

Friends will be received at The First Presbyterian Church 123 Union St. Mt. Pleasant, Ohio 43939 on Thursday July 30, 2026, from 4-8 pm then on Friday from 10am till time of service at 11am, with Rev. Berry Hall officiating interment at Hicksite Cemetery Emerson. Wilson Funeral Home 154 Second St. Dillonvale, Ohio in charge of services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The First Presbyterian Church PO Box 173 Mt.
