Reverend Joseph A. Byrne, 68, of Bethesda, Ohio, was welcomed into his eternal home, February 12, 2016. He was born into this life February 20, 1947 in South Charleston, West Virginia, son of the late Joseph L. Byrne and Claudine Parsons Byrne.
A 1967 graduate of South Charleston High School, Reverend Byrne graduated from Gordon Conwell Seminary in 1974, being ordained into the Presbyterian faith. He loved sports, especially tennis, swimming, and golf. He enjoyed his pets and cooking. His musical gift from God, led him to playing the trumpet, being in jazz band, and a member of the Civic Chorus in South Charleston.
Reverend Byrne's service to his Lord, Jesus Christ, led him to pastor in many communities, including; Lanesville, Massachusetts; Milton, West Virginia; Neffs, Ohio, and Belmont Presbyterian Church, Key Ridge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant granddaughter, Charles Abagail Short.
Reverend Byrne is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen E. Byrne of Bethesda, Ohio; daughters, Katherine (David) Short, Sarah (Steven) Day, Rachel (Joseph) Dorff, and Aliyah (Sean) Kennedy; grandchildren, Hannah, Caleb, Susanna, Sarah, Jacob, Elizabeth, and Joseph; and dear family friend, Linda Griffith.
Family and friends are welcome to visit, Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m., Kelly Kemp Braido Patron Funeral Homes & Crematory, 322 N. Main Street, Bethesda. A Memorial Service will be conducted, Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Concord Presbyterian Church, 46880 Jacobsburg-Centerville Road, Jacobsburg, Ohio. Interment will be private and at the convenience of his family.
