Richard E. "Dick" Lewis, 77, of Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010 at Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born December 22, 1932 in Rayland, OH a son of the late Oliver W. and Julia (Soke) Lewis. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. Dick was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry. In his spare time he liked to assist with various Salvation Army events throughout the community. He was a veteran of U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Robert Lewis. Surviving are his wife Betty (Snively) Lewis, two sons Scott (Nancy) Lewis of Millersville, MD and Bruce (Linda) Lewis of Bridgeport, OH, four grandchildren Brittany, Amanda, Hannah, and Tyler Lewis, and two great grandchildren Braylon Lewis and Adalyn Snodgrass. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm and Wednesday, October 20, 2010, noon until time of services at 1:00 pm at Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH with Rev. David Stammerjohn officiating. Burial follows in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV. Deacons of the church will hold services Tuesday at 7 pm in the funeral home.
