Richard L. Hale, 82, of Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born July 26, 1932 in Carlisle, PA a son of the late George Hale and Leatha (Rouse) Hale Shrodes. He retired from Tri-State Asphalt and was a bartender for American Legion Post #38 of Martins Ferry for many years where he also was a past commander. Richard was a veteran of the U. S Air Force and U. S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Hale and sister, Dolores Stan. Surviving are his daughter, Tammy (Jason) Valachovic of Shadyside, OH, granddaughter, Courtney, brother, George (Vi) Hale of Colerain, OH and sister, Anna Saunders of Elm Grove and Katherine (Wickoff) Hale. Friends will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 11:30 am until time of services at 1:30 pm with Rev. William Webster officiating. Military honors will be presented Wednesday at 1:15 pm in the funeral home by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion.
