Richard A. Hockenberry, 61, of Washington St., Martins Ferry, OH died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born Nov. 14, 1947 in Steubenville, OH a son of the late John and Mary Ann (Balukonis) Hockenberry. He was an employee of the Mingo Junction Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. Richard was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Martins Ferry, and the V.F.W. Post # 4811 of Yorkville, OH. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Vietnam. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Frank Hockenberry. Surviving are his wife Mary (Van Horn) Hockenberry, two sons Philip Hockenberry of Norfolk, VA and Jeffery Hockenberry of the home, a daughter Mary Margaret (Chris) Edwards of Louisville, Ky, three brothers John Hockenberry, and William (Edna) Hockenberry, both of Cleveland, OH, and Jim Hockenberry of Yorkville, OH, a sister Darlene (Willard) Shreve of Martins Ferry, two grandsons Brian and Daniel Hockenberry. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Van D. Fisher officiating. Full military services will be held at the funeral home by the Belmont County Council of the V.F.W.
