Richard "Doc" James Mellinger, 71, of Rayland, Ohio, passed Monday May 18, 2015 at Oakland Veterans Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on May 10, 1944, a son of the late John "Ted" and Helen Santo Mellinger. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters: Helen Smalley and Joann Mellinger. He was a retired employee of Wheeling Brake Company and a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. Doc is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Minnie Johnston Mellinger; a son Joseph Mellinger of Dillonvale; and a grandson Chance Mellinger. In keeping with Richards wishes, there will be no visitation and services will be private. The family is being assisted by Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second Street, Dillonvale, Ohio.
