Richard L. Saunders 73, of Rayland formerly of Bridgeport, died Sunday November 30, 2014 at East Ohio Regional Hospital Martins Ferry. He was born March 11, 1941 in Bellaire, a son of the late George and Dorothy (Matoszkia) Saunders. He was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Mingo Junction Plant, and a member of Wells Township and Jefferson County Sportsman Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son Kevin L. Saunders in 1973. Richard is survived by a daughter Karen (John) Cowan of Canal Winchester, Ohio, three sons Richard A Saunders of Miami, Fl., Steven M. Saunders of Bridgeport, and Brien J. (Carrie) Saunders of Champaign, Il., five grandchildren Zachary and Alayna Cowan, Steven Saunders, Thatcher and Tucker Saunders, a brother Robert Saunders of Rittman, Ohio two sisters Dorothy L. (Anello) Liberati of Bellaire, and Carol Saunders of Columbus, Ohio, special friends Dave, Cindy, and Ann. Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside on Friday December 5, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where services will be held on Saturday at 10 am with Fr.
