Rita M. "Sue" Schafer, 95, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Monday, April 25, 2016 at County Club Retirement Center, Bellaire, OH. She was born November 14, 1920 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Harry F. Schafer, Sr. and Elizabeth (Hennes) Schafer. She retired as bookkeeper for the former Atkins Roofing Company and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Schafer and Harry F. Schafer, Jr. and sisters, Beulah James, Velma Kelsey, Mildred Greer and Elizabeth Troy. Aunt Sue will be sadly missed by her nephew, Terry (Cathy) Greer of Martins Ferry and nieces, Joyce (Larry) Bebee of Newark, OH, Barbara (John) Roxby, Lindy (Don) Freed, Sandy and Cindy Troy, Pam (Gary) Patterson and Janice (Denny) Lewis, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Thursday, 5-8 p.m.. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 20 N. 4th St., Martins Ferry, OH with Rev. Tom Marut officiating.
