Robert J. "Bob" Burns, 78, of Virginia St., Martins Ferry, OH died Saturday, Mar. 3, 2007 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born Mar. 15, 1928 in Wheeling, the son of the late Bernard and Edna (Yahn) Burns. Bob was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and friend. He retired as the retail division manager of the former Imperial Glass of Bellaire. Bob was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church of Martins Ferry, the Imperial Glass Collectors Society, Wheeling Elks, and the Steubenville Eagles. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Lois A. (Searcy) Burns, a daughter Kathryn A. Burkhart, a grandson Chad M. Burns, and a brother Bernard Burns. Surviving are two sons R. Jeffrey (Heidi) Burns of Powell, OH and Michael W. (Cindy) Burns of Martins Ferry, a daughter Christine M. Nieman of Martins Ferry, nine grandchildren Carisa (Bob) Stone, Kara (Terry) Canter, Katie Burns, Jeremy and Justin Nieman, Bobby Shreve, and David, Kristopher, and Corey Burkhart, two great grandchildren Korynne and Josalyn Canter, and his longtime companion and dancing partner Catherine Warnix. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Mar. 7, 2007 at 9:30 AM at St. Marys Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Jason Prati officiating. Burial follows in St. Marys Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Wake services will be held Tuesday at 7:30 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Marys Catholic Grade School, 24 N.
