Robert A. Kies, 72, of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, died Friday, September 15, 2017 at his sister's home. He was born April 20, 1945 in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Thomas A. Kies and Mary (McGlothlin) Kies Clements.

He retired from Butternut Bakery. Robert was the first male to graduate from Martins Ferry School of Cosmetology. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Vietnam.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, Lester Clements.

Surviving are his children; Robin, Bob, Jr., Kristi, Krochelle, and Kravis, siblings; Mary Harris and Michael Kies both of Brideport, OH, Thomas (Mary Lou) Kies of Grand Rapids, MI, Edward (Judith) Kies of Topeka, KS, Roger (Patricia) Kies of Beaver, PA and Beverly (Joe) Pawlaczyk of Cincinnati, several nieces and nephews and ten grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Sunday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where services will be held Monday, September 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Minister Rod Kasler officiating. Burial follows with military honors in National Cemetery of Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd., Bridgeville, PA.
