Robert A. Norden, Sr., 87, of Virginia St., Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born May 18, 1920 in Bellaire, OH a son of the late John and Isabell (Focareta) Norden. He was retired from the Yorkville Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. Bob was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and the former Eagles Aerie #456 both of Martins Ferry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy WWII and a member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by seven brothers James, Lawrence, Charles, Henry, Joseph, Tony and John Norden, and a sister Minnie Yanny. Surviving are his wife Helen V. (Marco) Norden, two sons Robert A. (Cindy) Norden, Jr. of Scott Depot, WV, and Ronald Norden of Martins Ferry, and two grandchildren Nicolas and Christopher Norden of Scott Depot, WV. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008 at 11:30 am at St. Marys Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating. Burial follows in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Rosary devotions will be recited Wednesday at 3 pm followed by Wake services at 7:30 pm both in the funeral home. Full military honors will be presented by the Belmont Co. Council of the American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 20 N. 4th St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935.
