Robert L. Scarfpin Sr., 84 of Martins Ferry passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, July 5, 2024, surrounded by his family.  He was born April 28, 1940, in Martins Ferry the son of the late Earl and Maude (Jeffers) Scarfpin.

Robert retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel as a Master Electrician and served as the president of the Labors Union for the Benwood plant.  He worked at several places which made him the man he was today, Hoge-Davis Drug Co., Nickles Bakery, General Dynamics, Union Baker, Mitchel Plant, Martins Ferry Municipal Light Plant, just to name a few.  He was a past captain of the Vigilante Engine Company, and a honorary member of the Martins Ferry Fire Department. He and his wife were active bowlers at the Park Legion Lanes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, D. Carole (Palmer) Scarfpin in 2014, brothers, Willis, Earl, Frank, James, and Richard Scarfpin, sisters, Carolyn Bennett, and Gloria Magruder and Thelma Eicholtz.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Randal Scarfpin, Tammy Scarfpin, Lisa Scarfpin, Cindy Scarfpin all of Martins Ferry, Rhonda (Rick) Fuller of Solon, OH, and Robert (Phillip) Scarfpin of Dallas TX, grandchildren, Courtney, Dustin, Kara, Katie, Cameron, Carson and Coen, great-grandchild, Averie and one due in December, sisters, Sara Harman, Eleanor Sindeldecker, Sharon Kay Ashworth.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the Wilson Funeral Home-Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935 from 11am till time of service at 1pm. Graveside service will be at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Martins Ferry Fire Department Service will be conducted on Monday at 12:30 am at the Funeral Home.
