Rocco "Roy" Salimbene, 90, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Friday, November 4, 2016 at Liza's Place, Wheeling, WV. He was born March 28, 1926 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Pasquale and Marina (Montello) Salimbene.

Roy retired as a foreman after working 30 years for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, WWII. He was a member of American Legion Post #38 and Colerain VFW Post #8848, an avid hunter and fisherman and a devoted OSU Buckeye fan.

In later years he enjoyed visiting with friends (and a little exercise) at the Wellness Center and many visits from family. When he wasn't watching his favorite sports teams on television, he enjoyed old westerns and particularly Gunsmoke.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tony and Ross Salimbene.

Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley (Duvall) Salimbene, sister, Angie Nau of Martins Ferry, sons; Rory and wife Rebecca, Mark and husband Bill and Bruce and partner Cindy and seven grandchildren; Audra, Jacob, Alexa, Leah, Eric, Joshua and Cameron.

Family and friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Sunday 12-3 and 6-8 p.m. where services will be held Monday, November 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joe Ellis officiating. Burial with Military Honors by the Belmont County Honor Guard will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to: Colerain Presbyterian Church, P.O.
